Forward By Daddy:
This is my amazing 8-year-old daughter’s second book.
Even though I’ve always told Phoenix she could, she proceeds to prove it to me every day. Her imagination and loving heart never falter, and she is quite frankly the most creative person I know. I couldn’t be more proud to have been a part of this journey, creating Kitty Wars.
In her last book, The 3 Ninja Kitties, Phoenix drew all the pictures. When we started on this book, after the first drawing, Phoenix said, “Daddy, I don’t want to draw any more, can we just make a movie instead? I want to “BE” a ninja kitty!”
What’s a dad to do?
At first, I thought a movie would entail a weekend spent chasing my daughter around the woods with my iPhone. Silly me.
Though it started that way, the movie began to grow. Phoenix recruited a couple of her friends to be the other kitties. The next thing I knew, we had a five-day movie-shoot—coordinating over 30 different FAMILIES, spending an embarrassing amount of money on Star Wars costumes, and hiring a SEVEN-PERSON professional lm-crew.
My heartfelt thanks to EVERYONE who participated. You helped transform my daughter’s ideas into something magical. Thank you!
As much as I want to lead and inspire Phoenix, the truth is she inspires me. I don’t think it’s possible for me to more proud of another person. You are my role model in making the world a magical place every day.
